Introduction
This Opt-In & Consent Policy explains when, how, and for what purposes Scion Media, LLC ("Scion Media", "we", "our", or "us") collects and uses your consent to communicate with you and process your information. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. If there is ever a conflict between this page and our Privacy Policy, the Privacy Policy controls.
We operate a deliberately light-touch consent model. We never send cold calls, cold texts, or unsolicited marketing to people who have had no contact with us. Every piece of contact we initiate is grounded in one of the specific consent pathways described below.
How You Provide Consent
There are three distinct ways you can grant Scion Media consent to collect information and communicate with you:
1. Visiting and using this website (implied consent for basic operations)
Your use of scionmediadigital.com and its subdomains constitutes consent to the collection of automatically-gathered data described in our Privacy Policy — Information We Collect. That includes IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring website, and cookies set for essential site operation and aggregate analytics. This category does not authorize us to email, text, or call you — it only covers non-contact data processing needed to run the website.
2. Submitting a form, clicking a scan tool, or otherwise contacting us (express consent)
When you submit any form on this website — whether the main contact form, a free scan tool (Local Rank Checker, GBP Audit, Citation Checker, AI Visibility Checker, Schema Validator, Website Speed Checker), a booking widget, or any other data-collection point — you are expressly consenting to:
- The collection of the information you entered into the form (name, email, phone, business URL, and any other fields you completed)
- Storage of that information in our CRM and associated systems for the purpose of responding to your inquiry
- Contact from Scion Media by email, phone, and/or SMS (if you provided a phone number) related to the service, tool, or scan you requested
- Marketing communications from Scion Media about related services, unless and until you opt out (instructions below)
Form submission is an affirmative act of consent. You may revoke this consent at any time by following the opt-out instructions in the "Withdrawing Consent" section below, and we will honor your withdrawal within one business day of receipt.
3. Signing a service agreement (contractual consent)
When you become a paying client by signing a Scion Media service agreement, you are granting us the
broader authorization necessary to perform the services — including, where applicable, Google Business
Profile management under the business.manage OAuth scope described in our
Privacy Policy — Google Business Profile Data and OAuth Access.
Service-agreement consent is always accompanied by a separately-signed document and is never implied
solely from form submission or website use.
Types of Communications You May Receive
Once you have granted consent through one of the pathways above, you may receive the following types of communication from Scion Media:
Service communications
- Account updates (billing, service status, renewal notices)
- Onboarding instructions and scheduled check-ins
- Responses to your inquiries or support requests
- Delivery of scan results, audits, and reports you requested
- Critical alerts (e.g. profile suspension notices, ranking drops, review alerts)
Service communications are considered transactional, are sent by email, phone, and SMS as appropriate, and are not subject to marketing opt-out — they are necessary to deliver services you have already consented to.
Marketing communications
- Newsletters with local SEO, GBP, and AI visibility insights
- Product updates and new feature announcements
- Case studies, promotions, and occasional event invitations
- Educational content we think you will find useful
Marketing communications are sent only to people who have opted in by submitting a form, signing up for our newsletter, or engaging our services. You can opt out of all marketing communications at any time without affecting your receipt of essential service communications.
SMS / text messaging
If you provide a phone number on any of our forms, you are consenting to receive SMS messages from Scion Media related to your inquiry or service. Our SMS practices comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CTIA Messaging Principles & Best Practices, and the A2P 10DLC registration required by US mobile carriers.
- Message frequency: varies. Typical ranges are 1-4 messages per week for active clients and 1-2 per month for prospects.
- Message and data rates may apply. SMS messages are sent from registered 10DLC campaigns. Your mobile carrier may charge for inbound messages depending on your plan.
- Quiet hours: we do not initiate marketing SMS outside the hours of 8 AM to 9 PM local time in your phone’s registered timezone.
- Opt-out: reply STOP to any message to immediately unsubscribe. Reply HELP for support contact information. Your opt-out is honored instantly and universally across every Scion Media SMS campaign.
- Consent is not a condition of purchase: you can engage Scion Media services without consenting to receive SMS. If you want to use our services but not receive text messages, simply tell us during onboarding.
All marketing emails from Scion Media comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and include a working one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. Opt-out requests are honored within 10 business days (usually within hours). Service emails do not include an unsubscribe link because they are transactional — you can stop receiving them only by terminating your service agreement.
Phone calls
We may call phone numbers voluntarily provided through our forms or service agreements. We do not auto-dial, we do not use pre-recorded messages, and every call is made by a real human on our team. We respect the National Do Not Call Registry for prospects who have not affirmatively consented to contact.
Scope of Consent
Your consent, whether implied, express, or contractual, authorizes Scion Media to:
- Collect the data you explicitly provided (form fields, inquiry content)
- Store that data securely in our systems for as long as it is reasonably necessary to fulfill our purpose
- Contact you through the channels you authorized (email, phone, SMS)
- Share the data only with service providers and for purposes described in our Privacy Policy — Information Sharing
Your consent does not authorize us to:
- Sell your information to third parties
- Share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies
- Contact you about unrelated products or services without separate opt-in
- Retain your data beyond the retention period in our Privacy Policy — Data Retention
Withdrawing Consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time, for any reason, using any of the methods below. We will honor every withdrawal within one business day of receipt.
- SMS: reply STOP to any message
- Email: click "unsubscribe" in any marketing email footer, or email privacy@scionmediadigital.com with the subject line "Unsubscribe"
- Phone: call 888-311-8950 and ask to be removed
- Data deletion: email privacy@scionmediadigital.com with the subject line "Data Subject Request" — we will delete your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy within 30 days
Withdrawing consent stops future contact and marketing but does not obligate us to delete information we are legally required to retain (e.g. billing records for active clients, legal hold information, or records required for tax and accounting purposes). Full data-retention rules are in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
Minors
Our services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly solicit consent from minors. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that a child under 13 has provided consent on our website, please contact us immediately at privacy@scionmediadigital.com and we will delete the information.
State-Specific Rights (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah)
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or Utah, you have additional consumer rights under state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, CPA, CTDPA, VCDPA, and UCPA respectively), including the right to access, delete, correct, and restrict processing of your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@scionmediadigital.com with the subject line "State Rights Request." We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days (CCPA/CPRA) or 45 to 60 days (other states) as required by law.
EU and UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation applies to your use of our website and services. Our lawful bases for processing are: (a) your explicit consent (for marketing), (b) the performance of our service agreement (for paying clients), (c) our legitimate interest in operating and improving our services (for general website analytics), and (d) compliance with legal obligations.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to the processing of your personal data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@scionmediadigital.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Opt-In & Consent Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted prominently on this page and, for active clients and newsletter subscribers, communicated by email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Continued use of our website or services after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
